The El Nino phenomenon is affecting weather around the world in different ways.
With strong typhoons in east China and Japan, weirdly though it has led to a quiet hurricane season in the North Atlantic.
Consequently the named storm season in Ireland and the UK has thus far been quiet.
Although we are expecting the first named storm as we head into the last week of October. With a bit of an Indian summer too, this autumn has been pretty benign so far. Famous last words maybe.
And of course we just got hit by Storm Austen and Storm Boelo.
