New statistics show that last month was one of the hottest, driest and sunniest months on record for Ireland.According to Met Éireann's climate statement for last month, July 2026 was the second hottest July on record since 1900.It was also the third hottest month on record overall.The forecaster has said the month was dominated by high pressure, which resulted in a national mean July temperature of 17.25C.This has only ever been topped by the mean temperature for July 2013 of 17.34C.
