US mushroom producers have welcomed the U.S. Department of Commerce's (USDOC) announcement of its preliminary ruling that fresh mushrooms imported from Canada are being sold at unfairly low prices, calling the decision an important step toward restoring fair competition in the U.S. mushroom market.
The converse view holds on the Canadian side of the border.
It seems like the two countries are locked in a perception battle - no doubt stoked by political forces.
It will be interesting to see how it all pans out for producers and consumers alike on both sides of the 49th parallel.
