Stalker was interested by a quote from Deep Mind creator Demis Hassabis on the future of AI. He believes that AGI is only a few years away. “If you stop to think about it, we’ve essentially found a way to make sand think. It’s miraculous.”
It sounds quite fantastical when one thinks of it like that.
Meanwhile Softbank Chief Exec Masyoshi Son believes AI will transform lives completely. “AI will transform our lives completely, and do so in a way that generates profits,” he said, adding that there would be as many as 100 trillion AI agents and one billion humanoid robots by 2040. “We will go from a human-centric world to an agentcentric world. The age when humans are the highest lifeform on Earth will end. For better or for worse, it will happen and it can’t be stopped,” he said.
Speaking to more than 1,000 executives in Tokyo, he added: “Those who dislike AI have essentially refused their own evolution. Those who condemn AI are themselves spitting upwards.”
