Famously or infamously, should it rain on St Swithin’s Day (July 15) we will be stuck with it for the next 40 days. Stalker firmly believes in this old adage having seen it come true in several years.
However it would seem that June throws up various iterations of a similar myth.
Rain on St John’s Day on June 24, for example, is considered an omen of a poor harvest.
