At the welcome event of the Mushroom Days 2026 held on the first night of the event - five new mushroom industry figures were "ennobled" with the title of Ambassador of the Mushroom Industry.
The five newly installed ambassadors for 2026 are:
Dr Helen Grogan of Teagasc (research / crop protection);
Mel O’Rourke (spawn / mushroom promotion);
Gerard van de Wijdeven (mushroom production);
Ger Hendriks (mushroom substrate) and
Hans van den Boomen (mushroom grower).
Congratulations to all the new luminaries who are very well known and respected in their fields of expertise.
