March arrived and spring had sprung all of a sudden. With milder weather, some sunshine and some blood rain. Temperatures hit 19C in some parts of Wales.
“The mild weather arrived with southerly winds, which also pushed a layer of Saharan dust from North Africa across the skies of England on Thursday and Friday leading to poor air quality and a rather muted sunrise as the dust blocked some of the sun's light.
Blood rain was reported in parts of the Midlands. This is when Saharan dust mixes with raindrops leaving behind a reddish-brown residue on surfaces. It provided the perfect excuse for having a dirty car.”
Stalker always remembers the injunction of keeping mushroom units doors closed especially when there is dust in the air- carrying exotic vectors into growing units. The old adage for March is in like a lion out like a lamb - let’s hope it’s not inverted this year!
