One upshot seems to be a call for increased focus on moving away from reliance on oil for energy - which was tentatively the direction of travel anyway.
Meanwhile though as the cost of everything goes up there may well be renewed interest in things like packaging made from mushroom mycelium as opposed to petrochemicals.
We are pretty much reliant on plastics in our world of the moment - it will be interesting to see how the latest oil shock will focus minds on alternatives.
