The average inflation rate in Ireland last year was 2.2 percent. What with all the howling about cost of living you might think that figure is askew.
But food price inflation was running at more than 4 percent, and as we know it also depended on what food you were eating! Stalker cannot at this juncture give you the exact figure on mushrooms - but mushrooms did seem to remain at a steady price (increasing slightly) throughout the year as compared to other foods like beef and dairy.
No doubt we will all remain quite price sensitive throughout 2026.
With all the potential factors that might segue into the inflation rate - it’ll be an interesting year for sure on the economic front.
