Some of life’s luxury items are costing more this year too it seems. Black truffles are getting pricier according to reports.
The reason - truffles are notoriously sensitive to weather and harvests in France , Spain and Italy in 2025 were all affected by late summer heatwaves which translates to higher costs this year apparently. Whether it is the highly prized winter black truffle or the more common less intense summer black truffle, both varieties have ben affected, it would appear.
Perhaps hoking for the lesser spotted Irish summer truffle may be the way to go.
