In the December 1985 issue there was as ever a lot going on. Ireland was regarded as a leader in the European mushroom sector, although with an individualistic style of industry compared to Britain and the Netherlands.
One suspects that things are slightly more homogenised now.
There was a look back at Irish mushroom production from 1974 -1984 with total production trebling in that time.
The Mushroom Industry Marketing Bureau had issued a report which was covered in the issue.
And a wee prayer on the pages - “Lord make my words sweet and honourable, for some day I may have to eat them myself”.
