UK food prices are rising. Grocery inflation accelerated to 5.2 per cent in the four weeks ending October to the highest level since July, driven by the rising price of chocolate, fresh meats and coffee.
The latest data from Worldpanel by Numerator compares with 4.9 per cent for the previous month, when inflation slowed slightly, providing small relief to consumers struggling with higher energy prices and an increasingly expensive weekly shop.
Ireland has already broached the 5 percent barrier a while back, and the most recent measurements in September indicated a rate of 6.3 percent grocery price inflation rate.
One can assume it has gone higher than that since.
