After the hottest spring since records began, Ireland has now experienced the hottest summer since records began in 1900.
The average temperature was almost 2 C higher than normal.
The UK also experienced its hottest summer since records began there.
“Ireland is experiencing the effects of climate change, and our climate projections show that our climate is going to become warmer,” said Met eireann Climatologist Paul Moore.
