Ireland experienced its fourth hottest June on record this year.
With a sizzling 12th of July Ireland recorded its twelfth hottest July in recorded history. August has been pretty warm the year also.
Stalker’s not sure that the high of July at 31.1C in Mount Dillon in Co.Roscommon will be beaten in August, but it has been a long hot summer this year for sure.
Locally Stalker noted 28C on the car thermometer (notoriously unscientific) - we’ll see what the official result is when stats come out at the end of the month.
The remnants of hurricane Erin is set to blow through at the end of this month which will see the end of meteorological summer also.
With extreme weather events happening all over the globe this summer including nordic heatwaves and wildfires everywhere - a more settled autumnal phase would be lovely. What are the chances?
