As we hit the longest day of the year on June 21st, we’ve just had the hottest day of the year on June 20th, with Met Éireann recording a temperature of 29.6C in Co Roscommon in the afternoon.
June was the fourth hottest ever recorded in Ireland since data began being collected in 1900.
That temperature record for this year was then surpassed on the 12th of July with 30.1 C recorded in Co. Carlow.
Unconfirmed temperature readings hit 32C in the north of the country. We’ll have to wait and see when the official data comes in at the end of the month.
