In July 2005 the issue kicked off with news of trouble with Tesco - Green campaigners accusing the supermarket chain of exercising monopoly practices over farmers and suppliers.
One mushroom casualty was Greyfriars which had orders cancelled to the tune of £6million, only months after winning Tesco produce packer of the year award.
In Ireland -“Rethinking, rebuilding and Revising the Mushroom Industry” was the order of the day.
There was also a set of EU guidelines for standard cultivated mushrooms included in the issue. Top reading indeed.
