Spring this year has already been sunnier than the whole of last summer, the UK’s Met Office has said.
The start of spring was the driest since 1956, with half the expected rainfall in April and only a quarter of the long-term average in March. Data up until May 15 shows the UK has had 529 hours of sunshine so far this spring – beating the 491.6 hours the UK had in total last summer.
With the good weather continuing well into May, due to what is called in meteorological circles an Omega Block, it looks like it will be a record breaking springtime in both Ireland and the UK.
