The H5N1 strain of bird flu has the potential to become a pandemic according to the director of the UK Health Security Agency recently.
Richard Pebody was widely quoted in the media last month as a new trans species infection occurred on a farm in yorkshire, with a ewe being infected by bird flu.
He described news of the case in a single sheep as “a new twist in to the story”, but stressed that the risk “ hasn’t necessarily changed.”
