The godfather of AI has shortened the odds on the newfangled tech wiping out humanity within decades.
Professor Geoffrey Hinton, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics for his work on AI has raised the chances he believes of AI dooming humanity from 10 percent to 20 percent.
He said - “ most experts in the field think that sometime within probably the next 20 years we're going to develop AIs that are smarter than people. And that’s a very scary thought.” He reckons humans will be like toddlers compared with highly powerful AI.
Benign or malign, it will be condign. We will inevitably and inherently get the AI which man develops.
