It’s been a record year for flies of all varieties this year due to the perfect weather conditions for them.
The hottish temperatures and just the right amount of rain have caused a real surge in the daddy longlegs population, which you may have noticed.
The daddy longlegs (a.k.a the crane fly) population in the Britain is set to hit 300 billion, which is roughly about 3,000 flies per person in Britain.
There’s plenty of them about in Ireland too! The population is up about 25% this year. Stalker reckons the populations of the smaller flies too which afflict mushroom growers have swollen too this year.
