Mr Fothergills has added three indoor varieties of mushroom to its Marvellous Mushrooms seed range and is also launching a growing board to help make cultivation easier. A branded display unit for the boards and all six varieties of indoor mushroom is now also available to retailers.

The latest additions to the range are White Button, Chestnut Button, and Golden Oyster mushrooms. All varieties are available as dry grains and retail at GBP3.49. Mr Fothergills is also adding Shiitake and Pearl Oyster mushrooms to its outdoor range. These are available as dowels and are designed to be grown on logs. Both varieties have a retail price of GBP4.99.

Mr Fothergills' mushroom growing boards are made from chopped, steamed and sterilised poplar wood and are available in packs of three. Full instructions for growing mushrooms are included in the packs, which have a recommended retail price of GBP4.49.

Mr Fothergills says its mushrooms are 100 per cent traceable through the production process. The company began selling seed to garden shops and centres in 1978. It now also supplies to international markets and direct to customers through mail order.
